HON.MURUNGA :THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT IS TREATING CORONA ABNORMALLY

Speaking during a Kakamega County leadership meeting at the County headquarters, the governor together with Kakamega county MPs lauded the national government for releasing Ksh 8 billion to help vulnerable people who have been under the elderly program and Ksh 500 million for People Living with Disabilities.

In the meeting, the leaders agreed that all bodaboda riders in the county should comply with measures put in place by the Ministry of Health among them wearing masks and carrying one passenger.

“We have also agreed to ban market days, but people are allowed to visit markets any day. However, they should adhere to Government regulations. Manufacturers of PPEs especially masks should ensure they meet KeBs standards,” he said.

Hon Justus Murunga, The member of county assembly Matungu constituency asked the Government to take serious the pandemic and release funds to fight it in the county.

Hon Murunga confirmed to our Media there is no money from the central government to counties for Covid-19 and this has been discussed in the national assembly where the CS for Treasury and planning Hon. Ukur Yatani was summoned and couldn't respond to questions.

“The central government is not taking corona seriously, it has failed to release the received donor funds equitably to fight the virus, the counties cannot employ doctors because they lack funds, Even the already employed doctors in counties and at national hospitals are crying because of poor remuneration, a good number of them are running away from the country”  Hon Murunga.

H.E. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya told President Uhuru Kenyatta not to agree on a proposal by the National Treasury to reduce county allocation.

“The proposal by the national treasury to reduce almost Ksh. 46 billion for county governments from the exchequer implies the national government is not appreciating our efforts as counties in fighting Covid-19,” said governor Oparanya.

Hon Murunga requested the government to stop mentioning specific areas as most affected when other areas do not even have the testing kits, he insisted that corona is all over,  it's only that people haven't been tested. He requested the Central government to equip all county hospitals, Facilitate employment process or move the county Health sectors to the central government. If they can't allocate funds.

The Central government is forcing County governments to hire High-definition endoscopy Hospital machine at an exorbitant amount per month because the hiring company and the multi-million shillings medical equipment is owned by the Kenyatta's.

“The Health CS Mutahi Kagwe will appear before the National Assembly Heath Committee over controversial ksh. 1.3 Billion expenditure from the World Bank.  The figures are not realistic. Apart from the funds, we will also engage the CS on the circumstances of the dismissal of the lead researcher at Kemri" Hon Murunga stated.

NAIROBI :WIFE BURNS HER TIPSY HUSBAND TO DEATH IN A CAR

According to an aye witness the car went up in flames, revealed that the tragic incident occurred at around 7 a.m., within the Mai Mahiu Court in the Nairobi estate.
